Thirty Seconds To Mars are now a
Guinness World Record Breaking Band!!
MARS hit 300 shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on December 7th, confirming them as the new holders of the record for most shows performed during a single album cycle ("This Is War"). The band has been on tour for two years. FromGuinness World Records: Jared has said of the award: "We have been on the road for an incredible and insane two years and thought what better way to celebrate the end of this phenomenal journey than with a week of special shows in New York City. He continued: "We thought documenting this for posterity with Guinness World Records would be fun especially as we aren't any good at growing our fingernails very long or cultivating the world's largest squash".

NOTES FROM THE OUTERNET: Wings France

December 16th, 2011

"I heard today (April 5) was the day Kurt passed away 17 years ago. Can't believe it's been that long. So grateful for his contribution and inspiration. Not sure I'd be doing this if it weren't for him. He gave us all permission to create no matter what our skill set and reminded me that dreams are possible. Thanks for that. This made me recall a short piece of film I shot when I heard they were making a film celebrating his life. I made it to explore the character and explore creative possibilities. I never sent it to the studio or to anyone but thought I'd share it now..."

Jared Leto hosts an MTV documentary on Human trafficking
September 17, 2011

sup9hires-150x150

MANILA, Philippines - The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) states that human trafficking is “an act of recruiting, transporting, transferring, harboring or receiving a person through use of force, coercion or other means, for the purpose of exploiting them.” Before you think that this description is limited to female drug mules in Latin America (for reference, watch 2004’s Maria Full of Grace, about a Colombian teen who flies to New York with 62 pellets of cocaine in her stomach), this extreme form of abuse also involves men and children.
In Enslaved: An MTV Exit Special, a compelling new documentary film hosted by Jared Leto, actor and frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars, tells the stories of real people affected by the human trafficking trade in our neck of the woods, Asia. There’s Janet, a young Filipina woman shipped to Malaysia and forced into sex work. There’s also Vannak, a young Cambodian man sold as a laborer onboard a fishing vessel; and Siti, an Indonesian woman who works against her will as a domestic helper in Malaysia.
The project, part of an award-winning multimedia initiative to raise awareness for the cause, examines the roles played by everyone in the chain. To date, MTV Exit has produced an impressive catalogue of powerful TV programming presented by familiar names, such as Angelina Jolie and Lucy Liu to help bring down the number of human trafficking cases in the world. Enslaved may be heavy fare, but unlike Jersey Shore, this half-hour special will most likely expand your mind.

Jared Leto does Christmas

Friday, December 09, 2011
Jared Leto, lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and songwriter for American band 30 Seconds to Mars, is also a familiar figure on our movie screens. Twice chosen by "People" magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World, Jared’s hobbies include snowboarding, skateboarding, hiking, writing songs, reading, and painting.

Jared Leto Hugo Boss Just Different

He is also the face of HUGO Just Different, and here, he shares what Christmas means to him:

Q: Tell us about your most memorable Christmas day.
Jared Leto: Christmas is a big holiday for us. My birthday is the day after and my mother’s is a few days before so the whole week is a celebration. We like to invite over friends who have nowhere else to go that day and eat all together. Every year is different but special in its own way.

Q: What smell most reminds you of Christmas?
Jared Leto: I’ve had wood stoves or fireplaces at a lot of the houses I’ve lived in over the years so burning logs always remind me of Christmas. Living in California with the temperate weather, there aren’t many excuses to gather around the fireplace but Christmas is one I take advantage of.

Q: What is your earliest memory of Christmas?
Jared Leto: My earliest memory of Christmas is when I was two or three years old. We were really poor but my mother, an artist, would always encourage us to make gifts and give them to each other.

Q: What is the best Christmas gift you have ever been given?
Jared Leto: I am not a very materialistic person. I don’t really go for toys or cars or gifts. The best presents are always simple.

Q: What is the best Christmas present you have ever given to someone?
Jared Leto: I’m a thoughtful gift giver … but I can’t give away my secrets… (Laughs)

Q: What are your top three Christmas gift recommendations for this year?
Jared Leto: My top three gifts are:
1. HUGO Just Different – it has an unconventional yet surprising and fresh scent.
2. Finn, a novel by Jon Clinch. I am inspired by so many different sources, books being one of them.
3. My book on Haiti. During a recent trip there I took photos to document the ongoing work to rebuild it.

Good Night world!
Lot of MARS DREAMS to me! ♥
