Echelon Confessions
February 18th, 2012

Melin of Belgium sent us this creatively edited ECHELON Confession video expressing how MARS’ music makes her feel, and what being part of the Mars Army has done for her.

We want to hear your stories! Record a short video (please, no longer than 5 minutes or 100 MB maximum file size) — It can be about your favorite MARS show, why you listen to MARS, or even what MARS means to you. Just you speaking to your family: MARS and The Echelon.

Email your video file to marsconfessional@gmail.com with the subject line: MARS Confessional Video. Include your full name, age, and location. Please do not upload to a video hosting site—email the file directly to us. Feel free to use YouSendIt.com or SendSpace.com if the file is too large for your email provider to send.

Ammie wrote, "''A human being is only breath and shadow'' -Sophocles. But the Echelon is more."

Sandra wrote, "Follow the Light out of the Darkness...."

This week's MARS Clip features an acoustic rendition of NIGHT OF THE HUNTER in Rome, Italy. Check out what Tomo had to say:

ROME!!!  What an absolutely amazing experience it was to finally play in one of the most historic and beautiful cities on the planet.  Driving around the city is like traveling through a historical adventure where you can see in real life what you spent most of your life learning about, and all you lucky Romans have the privilege of seeing it everyday. When I see this clip, I remember how sick Jared was and that even though three different doctors told him it was impossible for him to sing the show without seriously injuring himself he said "no fucking way am I missing Rome" and we did the show anyway and it was FUCKING AMAZING!!!  Can't wait to do it all again!  minus the colds and sore throats of course...  ;-)

Read of the Week
The Pale King
The Pale King remained unfinished at the time of David Foster Wallace's death, but it is a deeply compelling and satisfying novel, hilarious and fearless and as original as anything Wallace ever undertook. It grapples directly with ultimate questions—questions of life's meaning and of the value of work and society—through characters imagined with the interior force and generosity that were Wallace's unique gifts. Along the way it suggests a new idea of heroism and commands infinite respect for one of the most daring writers of our time.
Movie of the Week
Project NIM
"Project NIM" tells the story of a chimpanzee taken from its mother at birth and raised like a human child by a family in a brownstone on the upper West Side in the 1970s.
Album of the Week

Frank Ocean - Nostalgia, Ultra
Nostalgia, Ultra. is the debut mixtape by American artist Frank Ocean. The mixtape was noted for its surreal themes, its unique R&B aesthetic and the nostalgic lyrical value. The content mostly focuses on interpersonal relationships, personal reflection and social commentary.
