Leonardo DiCaprio, Jared Leto And Tobey Maguire Brings Star Power To SXSW

March 12th, 2012

Leonardo DiCaprio And Friends At Mobli 2.0 Launch Party At SXSW
Jared Leto attends the Mobli 2.0 Launch Party during the 2012 SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX on Mar. 11

Leonardo DiCaprio was joined by  pals Lukas Haas, Kevin Connolly and Tobey Maguire at the Mobli 2.0 Launch Party at Kenichi Saturday (March 10th) in Austin, Texas.  The celebrities were in town for the annual SXSW festival, celebrating music, interactive and film.
DiCaprio and Maguire, both investors in Mobli, brought star power to the gathering, which was also attended by Jared Leto.
Mobli is a social media tool allowing for video and photo sharing on the Android, something Maguire hadn’t done before the launch party.  In between posing for photos with fans, the star shared his first social media post ever with the app, according to KXAN.

SXSW Interactive: Mobli 2.0 launch held at Kenichi

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Several Hollywood film stars are in town this week for SXSW but one new app managed to put several of them in one place, and the creators say that’s exactly what the social sharing company intends to do.
Actor’s Leonardo DiCaprio , Jared Leto, Kevin Connolly, Lukas Hass and Tobey Maguire joined a crowd attending the launch of Mobli 2.0 at Kenichi in downtown Austin.
Mobli is the leading photo and video sharing application on the Android platform and has seen significant celebrity adoption, providing its users with an intimate connection with otherwise inaccessible personalities such as Lance Armstrong, Leonardo DiCaprio, David Arquette, Ethan Suplee, Andre Berto, Rudy Gay, Jaime King, Stephen Curry, Soleil Moon Frye, Paris Hilton and many others.
Maguire and DiCaprio believe in the company so much that they’ve invested in the new version of the app that many say will appeal to the hipster crowds. DiCaprio has reportedly shelled out nearly $4 million.
“Mobli [is] a brand new site where users can share moments and see the world through other people's eyes, is a real-time, visual social media platform, made up of subject-based channels such as people, places and topics.” a spokesperson for the mobile app company said.
During the event, DiCaprio who came in from a film shoot in New Orleans, munched on sushi while he spoke with the Mobli team.
Maguire posed for photos with fans. During the event Tobey shared his first social media post ever with the app.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey McGuire Crash #SXSW

The latest celebrity trend seems to be investing in tech stocks, and then making cameo appearances at SXSW to help prove street cred in the techie world.
This weekend Leonardio DiCaprio and Tobey McGuire, two of the newest celebrities-turned-tech-investors, showed up at the SXSW Interactive festival for a party for their latest investment, the photo-sharing app Mobli.
The photo-sharing app space is a crowded one, with companies like Instagram leading the way, but Mobli hopes to differentiate itself by focusing on filtering and organizing photos by people, places and topics. The app seems to be getting some buzz, but at least a dozen people at the party seemed to have no idea what it was, and quite a few people were downloading it at the event to check it out.
It has got decent traction so far with celebrities, including DiCaprio, Lance Armstrong, David Arquette, Soleil Moon Frye, Paris Hilton, among others. I’m sure his investment didn’t hurt in that regard. DiCaprio reportedly led a $4 million investment round into the Israeli-based startup, and some reports indicated McGuire may have invested as well.
Before the event, Tobey stopped by the lobby of the Driskill hotel, which is one of the most popular hangouts during the conference. He didn’t stay too long but he did chat casually with Mashable Editor-in-Chief Lance Ulanoff in the lobby. Later he walked through the streets of downtown Austin and popped into a CD store on his way to the Mobli event, at a bar/restaurant called Kenichi.
He was quite friendly at the event, posing for photos and chatting with fans as well as friends.
Leonardo DiCaprio, on the other hand, came in later through the back entrance, with a baseball cap pulled low on his head, and walked to a blocked-off set of booths in the corner while covering his face with his hand, and spent most of the event there with his friends. He did fire off this post to Mobli while there.
DiCaprio came with his girlfriend, Victoria Secret model Erin Heatherton. Other celebrities who came included Lukas Hass, Jared Leto and Kevin Connolly.
Here are some of the photos that Mobli users uploaded at SXSW so far.
Ashton Kutcher, who came to SXSW the previous two years and has done a lot more tech investing than the others, was a lot more engaged with the tech community during his visits. Last year, for example, he sent people on a scavenger hunt through downtown using clues he left on FourSquare – resulting in an appearance by him at the Driskill Hotel.  His visits, not surprisingly, made much more of a splash.

Leonardo DiCaprio Visits Austin in Texax

Leonardo DiCaprio has been seen in Austin, Texas for the Mobli 2.0 Launch Party on Saturday evening March 10.
Other actors who were seen with Leonardo were Tobey Maguire, Kevin Connelly, Jared Leto, and Lukas Haas, who are all friends with him. Leonardo is keeping up with technology and is showing an interest in it. He also met up with his girlfriend, Erin Heatherton, who was there too. It seems that they all had great fun!
Leonardo and Tobey have been working on the new movie The Great Gatsby, which will be out soon. He posed on a red carpet having pictures taken with other actors. He wore a baseball cap that covered most of his face, which did not show off his face too well. Why did he want to cover his face? He has a handsome face he should really be showing it off!
Leonardo DiCaprio is one of Mobli's investors, so he attended for fun and business. He believes in the company and wants to take part in it, so he has invested $4 million with them . It seems he likes taking part and investing in companies. What other things will he want to do soon? He may want to take part in other things in the future!

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey McGuire Reunite the Posse for SXSW

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey McGuire got the BFF band back together for SXSW in Austin, donning requisite track jackets and baseball hats for a night on the town. The longtime BFFs (and current Great Gatsby costars) reportedly recently invested in Mobli, a photo-sharing app similar to Instagram or Lockerz, and were in town to add some star cred to the start-up’s SXSW party. Leo even posted this photo on Mobli of him and Tobey in matching blue outfits. Be still, our ‘90s-nostalgic hearts! But wait, it gets better…

Also in attendance at the Mobli party: Lukas Haas, Kevin Connolly, and Jared Leto. Lukas, Leo, Kevin, and Tobey have been a roaming boy brat pack since the early ‘90s, when they first fell into bromance as up-and-coming actors on the audition circuit. “They were always betting on who would blow up first,” a friend explained to New York Magazine, adding, “All they do now is hang out with Leo. If Leo wants to go to Paris, it's let's go to Paris. Las Vegas? No problem.” Once, at an Oscar party, Leo yelled, “Let's rent a plane! I want to go to India!”

The Leo posse is no longer in its heady heyday: Tobey is now married and has two little girls, and Leo brought his latest model gal pal Erin Heatherton to the SXSW party. According to Forbes, Tobey did some SXSW hobnobbing, stopping by the Driskill Hotel to hang with the Mashable editor-in-chief before wandering the streets of Austin in search of records and vegan food. Leo kept a low profile, entering the Mobli party through the back entrance, holding his hand in front of his face until he reached his friends’ private booth.

Toto, we’re not in the ‘90s anymore!
