WATCH: Jared Leto Releases New Book to Benefit Haiti

BY KARA DICAMILLO

Did you know that the 30 Seconds to Mars front man, Jared Leto, lived in Haiti as a child? Neither did we, but the “My So Called Life” star explains that he knew he wanted to return to the country after the devastating earthquake. In early 2011, about a year after the earthquake, Leto visited the country that had such a strong impact on his life to find a way to help.
By photographing his journey through Haiti, Leto has created a new book of photography to not only share his experience with us, but to also remind of what Haiti is still going through. The singer explains that the impoverished nation is coping with incredible turmoil and that his recent trip has changed him forever.
Leto writes on the Huffington Post, “I photographed my way through the trip and although I saw the most incredibly awful things, I also saw hope and defiance.”
The book is currently available for pre-order for $100 and 100% of the proceeds go to Haitian Earthquake relief. You can read Leto’s account in his own words over at theHuffington Post.
