ECHELON Tour Review: MARS300 – NEW YORK CITY
June 3rd, 2012

MARS300 – New York, New York, USA – December 7, 2011
By Amanda Paez

It is safe to say that this band is my favorite band in the world. It is also safe to say that MARS300 is my favorite performance from Thirty Seconds to Mars to date. But I say that every time that I have seen them. MARS300 was my sixth time seeing them and my third time in 2011. This was the best way to end a good year. Every time I see these boys, I always have amazing memories. From the time that I first saw them when I was 14 on their Forever Night, Never Day tour to being the lucky girl that Jared had his arm around in the Unplugged photo. MARS300 was the night of my life.
I remember when I purchased my tickets for this show, I could not wait for it and I knew it was going to be unforgettable. It was crazy to think that the day I was counting down for for almost two months was finally here. Walking into that venue and seeing their videos playing just made me beyond excited. My friends and I were having the time of our lives dancing around and singing at the top of our lungs as if they were on stage.
The chills that went down my spine when those boys hit the stage. It was pure bliss. I was dancing and singing along like there was no one in the room and had the biggest smile on my face. Search and Destroy has to be one of my favorite songs to hear live from This Is War. I always completely let go during this song. From that point on, every little thing that has been bothering my disappeared. That’s how I always feel when I go to one of their shows. It is so liberating.
Then Jared came out and played a couple of acoustic songs. First it was Alibi, my absolute favorite track off of This Is War. And then, he played my absolute favorite song from them, Was It A Dream? My eyes were shrink wrapped in tears. The last time I heard that song live I was 15 and it was on the Welcome to the Universe tour. It was five years ago that I had heard that song performed live. I had goosebumps during the whole entire song. Hurricane came on and it was like I was reliving Unplugged all over again. All of my favorite songs were played that night. I cannot complain; that set list was incredible.
As always, they ended with Kings & Queens. Jared was picking people from the crowd to go on stage and I did not hesitate to get on the shoulders of one of my friends. When Jared pointed at me to get on stage, my heart stopped. I crowd surfed over and I took a pretty nasty fall. I still have a nasty bruise from it but I did not care. When I got on that stage, I could not do anything but cry tears of joy. I had my moment with my favorite band in the world on stage. The band that has gotten me through everything in life. If it wasn’t for this band I would not be the person I am today. They have taught me to be myself and to live my dreams, to never give up. They have been such a positive influence in my life. I love them and thank them for that.
